Volunteer Dog School Assistant Coach

To support and assist the Dog School Coaches to ensure seamless and effective running of Dog School classes. To help dog owners progress in training their dog.

What will you be doing: 

  • Delivering elements of puppy classes, building up to delivering full sessions with support from the Dog School Coaches as training progresses.
  • Offering support to owners in classes on a 1-1 basis where required, using coaching and demonstrations.
  • Assisting the coach in delivery of classes, including handing out equipment, helping with demonstrations, and acting as distractions.
  • Assisting in class set up and pack away.
  • Maintaining the welfare of dogs by ensuring water, appropriate treats, and equipment are provided.
  • Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment, by ensuring any hazards are managed and spills/accidents are cleaned appropriately.

We’re looking for someone who: 

  • Is passionate about dogs, dog welfare, and rewards-based training.
  • Has a reasonable level of fitness, stamina, and mobility – this includes lifting and carrying of class training equipment.
  • Has excellent face to face communication skills with the ability to listen.
  • Has a confident and friendly manner.
  • Has the ability to work comfortably in a close-knit team or alone.
  • Has a conscientious can-do attitude.
  • Has the ability to follow instructions.

We will provide you with a main contact who will manage your tasks, answer your questions and help you with the volunteer rota. Induction and ongoing role-specific online training, guidance, and support as well as an opportunity to develop your current skills and gain new ones. We will provide a Dogs Trust uniform, alongside recognition of the role you are carrying out in support of Dogs Trust through our Volunteer Merits Scheme.
