Educational Events Assistant Volunteer

To support and assist the Education Officer with child safety educational events. Engaging with Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from mainstream and non-mainstream schools in supporting learning safety messages. Making sure they have a fun, positive and enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Helping with the preparation, delivery of safety workshops and collecting contacts from teachers during the sessions.
  • Groups are primary aged children within YR5 and YR6 and can include children not in mainstream school.
  • Tasks will include leading the safety workshops under the direction of the Education Officer.
  • Supervising activities, safety procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable on the work of Dogs Trust and specifically our safety messages.
  • Other administrative tasks as requested by Dogs Trust staff.

Required skills and competencies

  • An Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring service) check is required for this role.
  • Enthusiasm and effective communication skills. • Confident, calm, and approachable manner.
  • Willingness to work with children from a wide range of backgrounds and with different abilities.
  • Able to use own initiative, common-sense approach to problem solving.
  • Non-judgemental.
  • A sense of fun.
  • The ability to follow instructions.
  • Own transport.
  • Efficient time management skills due to the strict time limits of the sessions.
