Our Home From Home (HFH) Volunteers make a huge contribution to the success of our Home From Home (Fostering) scheme. Many of our canine residents prefer the stable, comfortable and quiet environment of a foster home to kennels. HFH Volunteer Assistants perform a wide range of administrative tasks help our HFH Co-ordinators find these pups their paw-fect foster home. 

What will you be doing? 

  • Administrative tasks that may include email, telephone, scanning, typing, filing and data entry 
  • Writing thank you cards and letters for fosterers whose dogs have been adopted  
  • Transporting our dogs between their foster homes and rehoming centres 
  • Bringing food, medication, or other equipment to foster homes 
  • Relaying information related to the dogs and fosterers back to the HFH Co-ordinator  
  • Creating foster dog profiles to display in the rehoming centre.

We’re looking for someone with: 

  • A full UK driving license 
  • Excellent inter-personal skills 
  • A diplomatic approach to problem-solving 
  • Ability to work comfortably both in a close-knit team and alone 
  • Conscientious with a can-do attitude 
  • Ability to follow instructions. 
  • An interest in dogs and dog welfare. 
  • For this role volunteers must be at least 18 years old 

What this role will offer you: 

We will provide you with a main contact who will manage your tasks, answer any questions you might have and help you with the volunteer rota. You’ll also received ongoing role-specific training, guidance and support as well as an opportunity to gain and develop new skills. We will provide a Dogs trust volunteer uniform, and will recognise the work you are kindly undertaking by enrolling you in our Volunteer Merits Scheme.
