Volunteer Laundry Assistant

When they aren’t out and about, our dogs love to be cosy and comfortable. Our Volunteer Laundry Assistants help our Canine Carers keep the dogs’ bedding and blankets fresh and clean.  
 

What will you be doing? 

  • Using the centre washing and drying machines to make sure our pups always have a fresh supply of bedding and blankets  
  • Keeping the laundry room clean and tidy 
  • Maintenance of the laundry machines, such as removing lint from the dryer 
  • Assisting Canine Carers with feeding the dogs and cleaning the kitchen, when needed 
  • Following our guidance when using liquids and disinfectants in accordance with our Health & Safety policies 
  • Reporting any machinery faults to your supervisor 
  • Being an ambassador for Dogs Trust 
  • Being knowledgeable about the work of Dogs Trust and specifically your rehoming centre 

We’re looking for someone with: 

  • Great interpersonal skills and good listening skills  
  • A confident and approachable manner 
  • A diplomatic approach to problem-solving 
  • Ability to work comfortably both in a close-knit team and alone 
  • Conscientious with a can-do attitude 
  • Ability to follow instructions 
  • An interest in dogs and dog welfare 

For this role, volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

 
 

What this role will offer you: 

We will provide you with a main contact who will manage your tasks, answer any questions you might have and help you with the volunteer rota.

You’ll also receive ongoing role-specific training, guidance and support as well as an opportunity to gain and develop new skills.

We will provide a Dogs trust volunteer uniform, and will recognise the work you are kindly undertaking by enrolling you in our Volunteer Merits Scheme.
