Every dog deserves a happy place this Christmas
Christmas should be full of joy and warmth for everyone, which is why we're helping dogs spend the festive season in their happy place.
There's nothing quite like the warmth of home at Christmas—surrounded by loved ones, sharing in the joy of the season. But sadly, not every dog will experience that same cosy feeling this winter.
Since 2021, the cost-of-living crisis has placed many owners in difficult situations, forcing them to make tough decisions about their beloved dogs. Often, they’re left with no choice but to hand their dog over to us for rehoming.
Rising household bills, along with the expenses of gifts, food, and celebrations, leave more families reaching out for support. Sadly, this means that countless dogs will start the new year without the comfort and security of their own happy place.
From stray underdog to a cosy Christmas at home
How Cody found his happy place
Cody the Pointer cross has finally found his forever family after a long wait. Cody came to us as a stray and his friendly and loving nature quickly won hearts. But it wasn’t until a patient couple saw past his unhappy start and welcomed him into their home that Cody’s story turned into one of joy and belonging. Now, with a cosy bed, plenty of cuddles, and long walks, Cody is thriving in his happy place.
He is cherished just as he is by new owners Julia and Martin: “Cody is amazing, and to us, he is perfect.”
The couple encourage others to consider adopting from Dogs Trust, particularly our Underdogs who might be overlooked. “The best gift of all,” they say, “is knowing that he has a home with us for the rest of his life.”
