Foster success for stray Sylvie

Find out how our fantastic Foster Carers helped Sylvie get back on her feet.

When Sylvie first arrived into Dogs Trust’s care after being found as a stray, she was a shy, timid girl who was quite overwhelmed by the world, especially any loud noises. Sylvie struggled to cope with life in kennels due to her high stress levels. Any potential adopter would need to be hands-off and patient, allowing Sylvie the time and space that she required to build her confidence up.

As she was struggling to cope in kennels, she was successfully placed within our home from home scheme to allow her to be more comfortable. This also allowed the team to get more information about how Sylvie is in a home as she came in with an unknown background.

Throughout her stay with her foster carer, Jemma, Sylvie gained some confidence and started to learn that the world wasn’t such a scary place after all! Her favourite thing to do was to snuggle up on the sofa with her carer for a cuddle. After a short stay, Sylvie got the confidence to go on her first walk. Jemma’s patience, care and time was invaluable to the centre in helping rehabilitate Sylvie.

It wasn’t long until we had more information about Sylvie’s requirements and were able to find her the perfect family! The team at Dogs Trust Glasgow organised several appointments for the new adopters to meet Sylvie at the rehoming centre to build a relationship before Sylvie was placed in foster to the new family initially. This was to be able to offer as much support as possible initially before adopting.

Sylvie has now been adopted and is living her best life with her new forever family.
