Saffron the Staffie looks anxious as she waits behind a closed door

Right now, dogs are in danger. Will you help open the door to safety?

You never know what goes on behind closed doors. A gift today could help dogs like Saffron find their Freedom.

Shockingly, domestic abuse is all too common. What’s more, dogs in these households can often fall victim to abuse too – and the consequences can be life threatening.

Many refuges cannot accept pets. So loving owners are forced to stay in dangerous situations for fear of what the abuser might do to their dog if they were to leave.

Your gift today could help a dog and their owner find safety by:

1. Freeing dogs from danger

We are seeing a rise in the demand for our services, so it’s vital that we’re ready to support owners and their beloved companions when they need us most.

The Freedom service has a network of dedicated foster carers, this means owners facing domestic abuse have somewhere safe and confidential for their dog to stay temporarily while they take the brave step to flee. Saying goodbye to their companion after everything they’ve been through can be devastating. But through the tears, the owners know that it’s best for both of them.

2. Helping dogs settle in their foster homes

Your donation helps provide our dedicated foster carers with toys, food, bedding and treats, as well as access to vital veterinary treatment and behavioural training, ensuring our dogs are safe and healthy while in temporary care. You could also help keep loving owners updated, making sure they receive regular pictures of their pooch until it’s safe for them to be reunited.

3. Reuniting dogs with their loving owners

After months or even up to a year apart, an emotional and long-awaited reunion is the final step. Your gift can help ensure dog and owner are reunited in a safe and confidential location. As you can imagine, the reunion is incredibly touching. Not only is it full of happy tail wags and excited licks, but it also means they’re happy, they’re free and they’re safe. This wouldn’t be possible without you!

The demand on our services is ever increasing.

We need your support.

Your gift today could take more dogs from fear to freedom.

Thank you.

Donations will go towards all areas of Dogs Trust's work and help care for dogs where the need is greatest.
