Right now, there are too many goodbyes
You can turn them into hellos by helping dogs find their happy place with us.
Will you help more dogs in urgent need of a happy place?
Thank you so much for showing up today amid your festivities. We know there’s so much going on, and finances can be incredibly stretched this time of year, so we really are especially grateful that you have taken the time to remember dogs like Jingle.
From now until March, we know that more dogs will face heartbreaking goodbyes than at any other time of year – whether because they’re abandoned or relinquished into our care. But your support means we can welcome as many of them as possible into our rehoming centres, and provide them with everything they need while we find them a loving forever home. After all, doesn’t every dog deserve a happy place – whatever that looks like for them?
Jingle was abandoned in the cold – hungry, frantic, and so underweight Jingle was taken to a local pound, which doesn’t have the resources to care for dogs long-term. So, if a dog like Jingle goes unclaimed, the pound may have to make the awful decision to put them down.
But your gift means that more dogs could have a safe place at our rehoming centres, where they’re cared for and loved until they find their forever home.
After collecting Jingle from the pound and bringing him to safety, he gradually put on weight and his initial stress transformed into cheeky bounciness. After everything he’d been through, our rehoming centre became his new happy place, while we found him a new forever home.
Oscar didn’t understand why he was being left behind.
Oscar’s owner had to move abroad for work, and sadly couldn’t continue to care for him. As you can imagine, Oscar was initially wary when in our care. So, we carefully socialised him and introduced plenty of treat-based training. He’s now showing what an affectionate boy he is! Your support helps make sure dogs like Oscar have a place to go to re-find their happiness.
Zara suddenly lost everything she loved.
After her loving owner sadly became too ill to care for her, gentle soul Zara needed a new happy place. Understandably, she was very worried when she first came into our care. But she now has her own quiet space and a private time for walkies. Zara also finds comfort spending time with the kind humans in our office – and has gained more confidence too.
You could help dogs like Zara get urgent medical treatment and behavioural training to prepare them for their forever home.
With an 86% increase in handover enquiries in recent years, we’re anticipating another surge in the coming months. This means more dogs losing their homes and increased demand on our services.
Your gift today could help dogs without a home find happiness in our care this Christmas.
Thank you.
Donations will go towards all areas of Dogs Trust's work and help care for dogs where the need is greatest.
