Are you right for Marlin?

Marlin has come back into our care after around 8 years in his home due to his previous owner sadly passing away. This sensitive chap is looking for a calm, peaceful home with gentle and understanding adopters who have time and patience to work on settling him in and meeting his needs once he is in the home environment. Marlin will need to be the only pet in his home and needs an adult only household. Despite his age, Marlin is an active guy who enjoys a good stroll. He would prefer walks in quiet areas without too many distractions so that he can get on with his sniffing and exploring and he will need his own private garden. As he can be wary when meeting new people, Marlin will need a predictable home where there are minimal visitors, especially at first so he can relax and feel settled in his space with adopters who can advocate for him and his space. Our training team will offer full support on this to ensure that Marlin will thrive in his new home. He is a clever boy with a few tricks under his belt already and he is very food motivated, so he could learn lots more with his new adopters! Marlin really loves to spend time with his humans, so although he can manage a couple of hours of leaving time in his home, this should be introduced gradually and carefully once he is fully settled in. Marlin will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home to build a strong bond and he might need visits from our behaviour team once he goes home so adopters will need to live within 45 minutes driving distance from the Canterbury Rehoming Centre so please bear this in mind prior to applying for him.

Is Marlin right for you?

Marlin is a 10 year old German Shepherd Cross who is the most wonderful, loyal and playful boy once he builds a bond with you. He enjoys his walks and playing with all his toys and doing fun training… you can definitely teach this older boy new tricks! He is super smart, picking up new things super-fast and he loves showing off his skills for a tasty reward! Once Marlin gets to know you, he is a real cuddle bug… he adores back scratches and if you stop, he will let you know if he wants more with a little nose nudge! With lots of time, love, patience and training, Marlin will make a wonderful, calm addition to your home and you’ll have a loyal and loving best friend!
