OK9 Module 2: What dogs need
Introduction and Preparation
Welcome to your second training module for OK9 Wellbeing and Trauma Dog Handlers. Please make sure you have completed the module 1 before beginning the module. There is no need for any independent or specific preparatory learning before you begin this module, however, you may find the Additional Resources below useful to reflect upon after the module.
This second module, titled “What Dogs Need” will be all about the welfare needs of dogs and what factors may impact a dog’s welfare, both at home and in the working environment. This will help OK9 Wellbeing and Trauma Dog Handlers to recognise indicators of positive and negative welfare states, to ensure they are monitoring their dog’s welfare state and can cater for their needs both at work and at home.
Before you begin this module, please read and remember the learning objectives for personal reflection.
Please allow 30 minutes to complete this module, as there will be activities throughout the video to complete. These activities will be linked below should you wish to visit them directly.
