After 500 days in kennels, Alfred has a yappy new year
Alfred, who came to our Glasgow centre in 2023, has finally landed his paws in his forever home after a long wait.
When three-year-old Lurcher Alfred came to us as a stray in 2023, he was still finding his feet. This boisterous boy had had an unsettled past, with his energetic antics sadly proving too much for two previous owners.
Thankfully the dedicated team at our Glasgow rehoming centre put together a plan to help find Alfred his forever home, really focusing on encouraging Alfred to relax with calming behaviours, settle work and building his confidence to travel in the car.
After six months in our care, the patient pooch became one of our Underdogs, an affectionate term for dogs who take longer than average to find their forever homes. But after over 500 days in kennels, Alfred’s luck was about to change.
Alan Scott from Glasgow came to us looking for a sighthound and was immediately drawn to Alfred. When Alan heard who Alfred was looking for, Alan knew that he was Alfred's perfect match. As with many Underdogs, adoptions can take longer as we support dogs and owners to build a strong relationship before adoption. It didn't take long for Alan and Alfred to build a strong bond and we are so happy that Alfred has found his hero adopter!
