Are you right for Madge?

Madge is a five-year-old Hound cross with a nervous nature looking for compassionate, dedicated, patient and understanding adult adopters. Adopters will need to go at her pace, with a ‘hands off’ approach initially, and give her time to settle. She could potentially live with another dog in the home; a calm, confident dog. She has no history of living with cats, or small furries, as she arrived as a stray, we have no history on her background before arriving in our care. She will need a quiet home environment, and experience of nervous dogs would be beneficial. Madge has recently done an overnight stay in the on-site bungalow with her carer that she has formed a relationship with, and we are pleased to say this was successful! To aid a happy and safe transition into a new home for Madge we ask that adopters ideally live within an hour of the rehoming centre, so we can facilitate home visits. We will provide ongoing support throughout the process and be on hand to answer any questions you may have along the way. She will need a fully secure garden with minimum of 6ft fencing. She has potential to make a lovely companion for someone who is able to take the time to allow her to settle. It will be very rewarding to watch her personality bloom over time.

Is Madge right for you?

Madge takes some time to form an attachment but once she has bonded with you, she is very affectionate, loves a bum scratch and bouncing around you. It has been rewarding to see Madge start to form relationships with regular carers, and feel safe and secure in her environment which can be repeated in her new home. Madge loves woodland walks where she can use her nose and breed traits to follow a scent. She is social with other dogs and has made a few friends here at the rehoming centre, walking together, and off-lead too, she does not want much from other dogs, but is happy to be around them and enjoys them being present.
