Are you right for Laika?

Laika is looking for a home with adopters who can give her all the time and patience she needs to adjust to her new life. Someone who can provide her with lots of fun adventures and give her lots of love and the attention she deserves! She would prefer a quieter home where she can be provided with a predictable routine and calm environment to aid her to settle. Any children in her home should be 16 years and over and be sensible when interacting with her, understanding when she needs quiet time and space to rest and unwind. Laika really comes out of her shell with another dog around, so although not essential, she would really benefit from living alongside another confident and established canine companion who can help show her the ropes in her new home. She cannot live with cats or small animals. When it comes to training, she knows a few basics and was housetrained in her previous home, but she may need a refresher in her new home so will need regular access to her own private and secure garden. Laika is a little worried by the car, so would need some support and training to aid her with this, our team can give lots of advice on this before, she goes home and after. Laika could potentially cope with a few hours on her own as long as leaving time is introduced and built up gradually once she is fully settled in. Laika walks nicely on her lead but does pull to get to a really good sniff. Laika will need to meet her adopters multiple times at the centre prior to going home as she can be a bit worried by meeting new people, so please bear this in mind when applying. If you rent your property, please have written permission from your landlord ready once you have submitted your application to avoid delays, as it will be required early on in the rehoming process if you are shortlisted.

Is Laika right for you?

Sweet and sensitive Laika came to us through no fault of her own, her owner sadly became ill, so is still adjusting to her life without them. She is a beautiful 5-year-old Border Collie cross who is a cheeky snuggly bug! She loves going on long sniffy walks and interacting with her doggy friends. She loves a tasty treat, and this will be a great way to engage her in training and to build a lovely, positive bond with her. Once she has finished with her run arounds and adventures she loves to cuddle into you for some gentle fusses.
