Are you right for Emmett?

Emmett is a 10month old Lurcher looking for a home where he can lap up as much fuss as possible! He would like to be the only dog in the home and due to having a high prey drive would not be suitable to live with cats or small furries and will need to be walked on lead when outside of the home. Emmett has been friendly and polite when meeting dogs out on walks but can get very excited to see them and worked up if he is not able to say hello. Once able to have a sniff he has been polite with his interactions and happy to walk on. Emmett is currently recovering from a leg injury and has been on restricted exercise, he has been healing well and has just started to have his exercise increased gradually. This will need to continue over the next 6-8weeks to aid in his recovery. Our Veterinary Team can advise his new family of how much exercise he can safely manage each day during this time. Emmett is a real foodie and providing his meals in enrichment such as food parcels, kongs and snuffle mats has been a great way for us to keep his mind busy while he has not been getting as much exercise. So that he has easy outside access while he is recovering, Emmett will need his own secure garden. Emmett could live with children of older primary school age who can appreciate he is recovering from an injury and needs to be kept calm while he is healing.

Is Emmett right for you?

Emmett is such a sweet boy who loves being around people and having fuss and a cuddle. He would like his new family to be around most of the time initially while he is recovering from his injury and to help him settle into his new home. Once settled, he could be left for short periods of time but this may need to be built up gradually as he is such a people person he just wants to be with you all the time! He travels well in the car and once healed, would love to go with you on lots of interesting walks and have opportunities to sniff and explore. Emmett loves playing with toys, his favourite being soft teddies - though this needs to monitored initially while he is still healing. Emmett has so much potential and will make a wonderful companion for a family who can give him the additional care he needs while he is healing.
