Are you right for Baxter?

Baxter is looking for a home where any children are over 16, and robust! His family will need to be committed to ongoing training to work on his impulse control and social skills. Baxter may not be fully house trained and isn't used to spending time at home by himself.

Is Baxter right for you?

Baxter is the biggest, daftest looking pup in the centre but he’s a smart boy who is doing well with his training. When he first arrived, he was so strong on his lead and dragged his poor carers everywhere! Now he’s been working with them he’s much better and has learned to walk beautifully to heel. This will need to be maintained by his new family, so he doesn’t slip back into old ways. Baxter just loves to play, and once he’s finished parading about and showing off his toy, he’ll bring it to you and wait for you to throw it. We avoid tug games with Baxter as he tends to get a little carried away and we’re working on his tendency to grab people when excited. Better to stick to throwing a few balls and teddies! Baxter is also up for saying hello to new four-legged friends and he is very polite when on his lead, gently greeting them and then calmly walking alongside. Off lead however, things are rather different! Baxter weighs 40kg and plays very roughly so he must be carefully managed with appropriate playmates. This is why we feel he is better as the only dog at home, so nothing has a chance to escalate when unsupervised. He’s still a young boy, not even two and not long out of his puppy stage. Baxter has bags of potential with the right family, but boundaries will need to be put in place for him from day one. Our training team are very happy to work with his new family to give Baxter the best chance of success in his new life.
