Our refurbished centre

Our Canterbury rehoming centre underwent a major refurbishment to give our dogs the first-class facilities they deserve.

Dogs Trust Canterbury rehoming centre

Our rehoming centre, which was opened in 2000, has transformed the lives of countless dogs.

Since then, our rehoming centres have come a long way, and it was time to bring the Canterbury facilities up-to-date.

Our state of the art centre now boasts:

  • spacious kennels
  • a new intake block
  • vet suite, landscaping
  • office space
  • staff room
  • a training area

The renovation took 18 months to complete, and has enabled our amazing team to provide extra rehabilitation for the dogs in our care.

Our centre can be home to up to 70 canine residents at one time, and our new facilities allow us to give them the time and attention they need to increase their chances of finding their forever home.

Alongside this, the vet suite with full surgical facility has cut the cost of vet trips and has even helped us make these procedures less stressful for dogs by allowing them to stay on-site.

"It was an emotional moment to unveil a plaque to a much-loved dog who holds a very special place in our hearts. Lilly, who was one of our Sponsor Dogs unfortunately passed away and is very much missed. That is why it was so fitting to not only unveil a plaque to her, but also to name one of our new walkways ‘Lilly’s Walk’. Lilly always loved walking in that area and we hope that many of our other dogs will enjoy the route as well as the newly rebuilt areas of the centre we unveiled."
