How emergency vet care paved Sky's road to recovery
The Sky’s the limit for this stunning stray Lurcher found with broken leg.
Sky is a beautiful 21-month-old Lurcher who was found by a member of the public back in the summer of 2021. She had a badly broken leg which we believe was the result of being hit by a car. She was taken straight to an emergency Vet to be made comfortable.
Sadly, her leg was not able to be saved and following her operation we placed in a foster home where she could recover, receive some well-deserved TLC and start her rehabilitation.
As she settled in her foster home not only did she adapt to life on three legs with incredible ease, but she very quickly started to show us the happy, playful and affectionate girl she truly was. Once she was able to take proper walks there was no stopping her, and after some time of gradually building up her strength, her love of playing with toys really shone through! Her foster carers said that watching bounce around their garden with her favourite ball was wonderful to see, especially remembering how she was when she’d first arrived just after her operation.

Following her physical recovery, and then character and temperament assessments by our training and behaviour team, we were able to start looking for a permanent home for her. Happily, she was quickly spotted on our website by Ashley and Alex and after meeting her they knew it was a match made in heaven! The officially adopted her and she left her foster home for her forever home in late September.
Sky has been part of our family for around three months now and she has settled in unbelievably well. We’d definitely describe her as a couch potato! She loves to snuggle with us on the sofa is at her happiest when she’s sprawled across us both. She enjoys playing fetch with her ball and has made lots of new friends to play with in the park, both human and doggy. Sky is the most loving and snuggly dog we’ve ever met and she’s the perfect addition to our family. We love her so much. Thank you Dogs Trust Leeds

We’re so happy to see how well Sky has settled in her home. She’s been through so much already in her short life but thankfully we were able to step in and care for her when she really needed it. Not only is she all set for a wonderful Christmas with her family, she’s set For Life.
