Meet our Greyhounds and Lurchers

Here at Newbury, we have a whole host of graceful Greyhounds and lovely Lurchers.

Greyhounds and Lurchers are both part of the sighthound family and do typically share similar physical features. However, their personalities and needs can be quite different - as is the case for our resident sighthounds!

Lurchers are the Greyhounds fun-loving cousins! Generally, Lurchers are a sighthound crossed with another breed and because of this they can vary in many different sizes, and have lots of different features which results in a variety of looks. It also means that they have a lot of different personalities and traits, with some being a bit more energetic than others. However, they all tend to share the same passion for running, just like Greyhounds, and with this brilliant, varied crossbreed when it comes to running, there tends to be two types – effortlessly elegant and those who can’t control their legs!

Some of our Greyhounds and Lurchers might need to wear a muzzle whilst in public because of a strong urge to chase smaller dogs, cats or wildlife that are moving quickly (running). Most of our sighthounds are really dog friendly and can walk with dogs of all different sizes.

Could you offer a fur-ever home to one of our sighthounds?

If you think you could see yourself with a graceful Greyhound or lovely Lurcher, then make sure to look at our dogs currently up for rehoming. We normally always have a few sighthounds longing for their forever home.
