The Home From Home team are celebrating with one of their long-term foster carers, Jo Heather, as she has reached the amazing milestone of having cared for 75 dogs for the Salisbury rehoming centre, since she became a foster carer in 2017.

‘Home From Home’ was introduced in 2015, and has greatly helped the dogs who come into our care to benefit from the additional comforts that a home environment offers.

Jo has found the experience very rewarding, and it has reignited her passion for her favourite artistic past time - she has painted portraits of almost all the dogs she has fostered as a loving tribute towards them.

It is 5 years since Jo first joined the scheme, and she still fondly remembers her first foster dog - a sweet Jack Russell Terrier called Mini.  In 2020 the temptation became too much, and Jo fell in love with Nelly - a Chihuahua cross - who went on to become a permanent family member.

Since Home From Home was set up, the scheme has recruited over 30 families, all helping us to care for dogs in need of that extra bit of TLC. The team are always on the lookout for more foster carers.

Jo and her family are amazing, with all the love and support they provide for the dogs that they foster. They go above and beyond to make sure they are happy and comfortable. Jo is an amazing person and a fantastic dog carer.
