A happy rehome for Jip
Meet 4 year old Collie Cross Jip the jetsetter!
After a stay at a rescue centre in Ireland, Jip came into our Snetterton Centre in February 2020. He was a very nervous boy who was too scared to be around people or to even leave his kennel. Talking too loudly or sudden movements were all very worrying for Jip.
Our Training and Behaviour Team came up with a plan to try and desensitise him to movements and with a short term goal of being able to introduce him to life outside of his kennel.
Jip was put in one of our quiet kennels away from too much noise and had a limited amount of people visit him to try and build a relationship at his own pace. It took about 3 weeks, but he did eventually gather enough courage to try and venture out. It was a very proud moment for everyone! Once Jip discovered other doggy friends he really started to come out of his shell.
A few months after arriving Jip finally went up for rehoming and was then adopted in September 2020 by a lovely family. They took their time to get to know him over several months before taking him home and we did multiple home visits to settle him in prior to adoption too.
He has done so incredibly well in his new home! From a timid dog who could only make it to the front garden to going on lovely walks with his doggy friends, going on a boat trip and even going on a plane with his family as they moved to Cyprus!
He now enjoys a life in the sun and swimming in the Mediterranean. He has his very own Instagram page - @jippy.longstocking – where you can follow his antics and see just how well a timid dog can do when given the chance. We love seeing you so happy Jip!
