People's Postcode Lottery

Thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, we’ve been able to be there for thousands of dogs and their owners. Dogs just like Bear, who is living his best life with his dedicated adopters, Alina and Tony.

“The support from Dogs Trust, it made me feel that I wasn’t alone… We’re still working around his anxiety around dogs, but he is a thousand times better. We’re so grateful to have found Bear, with all his quirks and complexities, he’s our perfect boy and we’re so glad he found us.”

Support from players of People's Postcode Lottery has changed the tale for over 105,000 dogs – that's nothing to be sniffed at!

We’ve been able to care for and rehome dogs, just like Bear, who needed a second, or sometimes third or fourth chance to live happily ever after in a loving home. As well as helping our four-legged friends, we also give owners, like Alina and Tony, a helping hand when they need it, keeping dogs and families together.

Supporting a deserving cause of many paws

Thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, we’re making a world of difference to dogs and their families. We’re working day in and day out throughout the UK finding dogs forever homes and helping owners train and understand their four-legged friends. This simply wouldn’t be possible without player’s support, who have helped us rehome over 105,000 dogs since 2014, when funding awarded by the Postcode Animal Trust began.

As a nation of dog lovers, canine companionship has increased in the millions over the years and thanks to this funding, our organisation has grown so we can continue to support the rise in dog ownership – and those who need our help.

Since 2014 we have employed more staff, built three brand new rehoming centres, redeveloped and refurbished existing centres, established our Customer Support Centre and Post Adoption Support service, and grown our pilot dog training classes into 110 Dog Schools, and seen 90,000 dogs graduate!

Being there for dogs

With 21 rehoming centres across the UK, there are a lot of dogs, like the lovely Bear, to be looked after. In fact, every year Dogs Trust looks after around 14,000 canine residents at our centres. Thanks to players’ support we’ve funded passionate teams of people to care for, rehabilitate and spend time with our furry friends, and find them their forever homes.

Being there for owners

We’ve experienced record numbers of enquiries from owners who’ve made the difficult decision to hand over their dog to be rehomed. Players of People’s Postcode Lottery are helping every single enquiry be answered with compassion, understanding and support from our essential Customer Experience team. In 2022 alone, the team responded to over 50,000 enquires from people who needed our help.

Once a dog arrives at our centre, we work hard to help them get ready for adoption. But the once they’ve found their new family, the care doesn’t stop there. Our Post Adoption Support service helps owners like Alina and Tony bring the best out of their new four-legged friend, for as long as they need us. Over the past five years we’ve been able to give advice to adopters on more than 300,000 occasions.

We couldn't do any of this work without the support from players of People's Postcode Lottery who raise money to help charities and good causes.
