Lottery rules
These Terms and Conditions are the Lottery Rules. By entering the Lottery (“Lucky Pups Lotto”), players agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Dogs Trust Legacy is part of the Dogs Trust Group, and the net proceeds from the lottery are used for the charitable objects of Dogs Trust. Dogs Trust Legacy is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission, account number 4639.
This Lottery is managed and provided by our External Lottery Manager (ELM), Woods Group Limited trading as Woods Valldata. Registered in England and Wales No. 3665861. VAT number 991 2313 22. Registered office: The Woods Group Limited, Lansdowne House, Bumpers Way, Chippenham SN14 6NG Woods Group Limited is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission under account number 3586.
Entry conditions
1. The Lottery is only open for residents of Great Britain. Residents of Northern Ireland. Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are unfortunately not eligible to take part.
2. Underage gambling is an offence. This Lottery requires entrants to be aged 18 or over, therefore players will be required to provide their DOB and to affirm that they are of legal age. Dogs Trust Legacy reserves the right to require proof of identity and age by documentation. It is also an offence to buy on behalf or sell Lottery entries to an underage person. Any person who has entered and/or participated in the Lottery who is subsequently found to be underage will:
- forfeit any prize and will be excluded from any future entries
- receive a full refund
- not receive any prizes that might have been due to them, and if prizes have already been paid out, all reasonable attempts will be made to recover them.
3. The cost of each entry is £1 per week. Players can take a maximum of 10 chances per week and payment must be received (and cleared) before entry to the weekly draw.
4. Entry will be paid by monthly Direct Debit, £4 or £5, or multiples of these amounts if you have more than one chance. The amount will be dependent on the number of draws in between your payment dates. This will enable entries to be made into every draw. Payment will be collected directly from your bank account on either the 1st or 15th of each month, or on the following working day if the direct debit date falls on a weekend or bank holiday.
5. We are required by our licence to inform customers about what happens to funds which we hold on account for you in the event of insolvency. The Gambling Commission provides further information on our licence conditions detailing what we need to tell customers about their funds. We hold customer funds separate from company funds. These funds are not protected in the event of insolvency: not protected segregation. For more information, please see the customer funds insolvency ratings system.
6. A new player will receive an advance notice letter detailing their activation date, payment schedule, Direct Debit Guarantee and numbers entered into the weekly draw.
7. Dogs Trust Legacy and its’ ELM employees involved in the Lottery operations and licensees are excluded from playing the Lottery.
8. It is the players responsibility to notify the Promoter (“Dogs Trust Legacy”) or it’s ELM (“Woods Valldata”) of a change of name, address, bank details or any other.
9. To cancel a subscription to the Lottery, it’s easy, please call our Lottery Helpline on 0330 002 0897. Please also ensure the direct debit is cancelled with your bank or building society.
Weekly draw
10. The Lottery will be drawn every Friday by the ELM, where the draw date falls on a bank holiday the draw will take place the following working day.
11. The draws are conducted using a random number generator (RNG), tested, and approved by a Gambling Commission recognised test house. To produce the winning numbers for each weekly draw 5 numbers from 1 to 49 will be selected at random and all the eligible chances checked for any 5 number matches, in any order.
a. if a player has more than one line of numbers (chances) each line of numbers must be unique.
b. players not wishing to choose their own numbers will be given randomly allocated numbers generated by the system.
c. a player may be able to have the same set of numbers as another player.
12. Prizes will be drawn in order – the first prize will be drawn first, second prize second, third prizes next and so on, until all prizes have been allocated.
13. If the first prize is drawn and more than one player has that set of numbers, the prize value will be shared equally between each winner.
14. The second, third and runner up prizes cannot be shared. Therefore, any winners drawn with matching numbers, for these prizes, will each receive their full prize entitlement.
15. The draw is over once all prizes have been allocated as there are no rollovers.
16. Where a request is made to change a player’s chance numbers, the change will be made within 7 days of receipt of the request. Players will have no claim on any prize until our ELM has made the necessary update. Similarly, players will have no claim to any prize awarded to the original randomly selected numbers after the ELM has made the change to a player’s chance numbers.
Winners and prizes
17. For each Weekly Lottery draw, there are 103 guaranteed winners:
- first prize of £1000
- second prize of £350
- third prize of £150
- 100 runner up prizes of £5.
18. A list of the winning ticket numbers, initial, surname and town of winners’ will be published here within 7 days of each weekly draw e.g. J Bloggs from Swindon. A list of winners will also be available by email on request. We reserve the right to use this information for promotional purposes.
19. There is no need to claim prizes as winning cheques will be sent automatically. Winners will receive their prize cheque by post, within 30 days of the draw. Any prize not banked within 6 months of the draw will be classed as forfeited and treated as a donation to Dogs Trust Legacy.
20. If there is any change to the prize structure of the Lottery, all players will be notified in advance of the next draw, by this website, email or post.
Restrictions and liability
21. Dogs Trust Legacy may amend these terms and conditions at any time. Dogs Trust Legacy will notify all participants of any significant changes to these terms and conditions via this website or by contacting you directly using the contact details provided on entry to the Lottery. Dogs Trust Legacy reserves the right without notice or reason to cancel or refuse entry to the Lottery and to modify, cancel or terminate the Lottery in whole or in part at Dogs Trust Legacy’s sole discretion.
22. Dogs Trust Legacy reserves the right without notice or reason to suspend the Lottery for any period of time at Dogs Trust Legacy’s sole discretion. During such period Dogs Trust Legacy shall:
- suspend Direct Debit payments from your bank or building society as soon as practicable, and;
- retain any amounts which were paid prior to such suspension taking effect that have not been used to pay for Chances in previous Draws. You will be notified of further details regarding the resumption of the Lottery or otherwise as soon as reasonably practicable after the date of suspension in writing.
23. Dogs Trust Legacy is committed to protecting the privacy of participants. Dogs Trust Legacy will use your personal information for the purposes of administering the Lottery and as described in the Dogs Trust Group Privacy Policy.
24. Dogs Trust Legacy or its’ ELM shall not be liable for:
- any entries or communications which are damaged, lost, stolen or delayed in the post;
- any late bank payments;
- any failure or inability to award a prize due to any errors or omissions in the data provided or due to any failure by the participant to update Dogs Trust Legacy with any changes to the contact data provided;
- any delays or failures in any software or other systems used by Dogs Trust Legacy or its ELM for the administration of the Lottery;
- any refusal by Dogs Trust Legacy to accept an entry or the cancellation of an entry
- any event beyond the reasonable control of Dogs Trust Legacy or its ELM; and
- any loss or damage incurred by a participant in connection with their entry to the Lottery or use of any prize.
25. Direct debits for the Weekly Lottery are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee. This is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits.
Proceeds
In 2023, Dogs Trust received £510,214 from the Lottery, of which 74% was attributable to our charitable activities. This includes essential care for the dogs across our 21 rehoming centres, running costs, and our campaign work such as education, neutering, and microchipping. After these proceeds, 12% was spent on prizes, and the remaining on the running costs and governance of the Lottery. The likelihood of winning a prize in the Lottery each week is 1 in 131.
Responsible gambling
The Lucky Pups Lotto is intended to be a fun way to support the charitable aims and vital work of Dogs Trust. If you feel that you have a problem with gambling, we have a Responsible Gambling Policy, whereby if you wish to be self-excluded from the Lucky Pups Lotto and Raffle, please complete this form or speak to a member of our friendly team on 0207 837 0006 who will be happy to assist you.

Once self-excluded, you will be opted out from Lucky Pups Lotto and Raffles for a minimum period of 6 months. Any self-exclusion period may, on request, can be extended for one or more further periods of at least 6 months and up to 5 years.
During your self-exclusion, any attempts to enter our Lucky Pups Lotto and Raffle during this period will be refused, refunded and consequently these entries will be deleted. You will also be opted out of all marketing material during the self-exclusion period, to ensure you are not sent any gambling related communications.
You will not be able to leave the scheme before the exclusion period has expired. At the end of the self-exclusion period, your marketing preference will not automatically change and remain in place for a minimum of 7 years.
At the end of your chosen self-exclusion period, if you wish to become opted-in, you will need to instruct us in writing with the contact details above.

Complaints procedure
If you do wish to make a complaint about any aspect of our Lottery, please contact lotteries@dogstrust.org.uk Following the acknowledgement of a complaint, our dedicated Prize Led Team will do their utmost to resolve your concerns in writing, within 7 working days.
If the first resolution is not to your satisfaction, there are 14 days in which to appeal, and your complaint will be escalated to our Feedback & Complaints Manager, who, along with the Prize Led Team, will co-ordinate a response from our External Lottery Manager (ELM). All parties involved, aim to resolve an appeal within 14 working days.
Following an appeal, you will receive a final written response within 8 weeks of the original complaint. If for any reason you remain unsatisfied, please contact a third-party Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) entity recognised by the Gambling Commission, such as IBAS (https://ibas-uk.com/)
