Volunteer Dog School Class Assistant

Our Dog School volunteer class assistants support and assist the Dog School Coaches during training classes. 

What you'll be doing

  • to provide support to the Dog School Coaches so that they can deliver the best training services to dog owners
  • to aide owners with training tasks during classes supporting where required on a one-to-one basis
  • setting up and packing down the equipment needed for the classes 
  • to help with any administration needed within the class 
  • be an ambassador for Dogs Trust and Dog School
  • be knowledgeable on the work of Dogs Trust and the purpose of Dog School.

For this role volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

We're looking for someone who

  • are passionate about dogs, dog welfare, and rewards-based training
  • have a reasonable level of fitness, stamina, and mobility – this includes lifting and carrying of class training equipment
  • have confidence around different breeds and sizes of dogs
  • have excellent face to face communication skills with the ability to listen
  • are confident and have a friendly manner
  • have ability to work comfortably in a close-knit team or alone
  • have a conscientious with a can-do attitude
  • have the ability to follow instructions.

What this role will offer you:

We will provide you with a main contact who will manage your tasks, answer your questions and help you with the volunteer rota. Induction and ongoing role-specific online training, guidance, and support as well as an opportunity to develop your current skills and gain new ones. We will provide a Dogs Trust uniform, alongside recognition of the role you are carrying out in support of Dogs Trust through our Volunteer Merits Scheme.
