Volunteer Maintenance Assistant

Our Maintenance Assistant Volunteers help ensure the smooth running and upkeep of our facilities, creating a safe and welcoming environment for visitors, staff and the dogs in our care. They provide practical support to our daily operations and contribute to our mission of providing the best care for animals.
What will you be doing?
- painting indoor and outdoor areas to maintain a clean and professional appearance
- fence upkeep, such as repairing and painting, to ensure secure and safe enclosures
- cleaning signs to ensure they are visible and well-maintained for visitors
- cleaning paths to keep outdoor spaces safe and presentable
- cleaning windows for a clear and welcoming view into our facilities
- washing cars used for charity operations, ensuring they are clean and presentable
- acting as a ladder assistant for tasks that require working at height, ensuring safety and support
- equipment upkeep to ensure that tools and supplies are well-maintained and available when needed
- sorting donation bins to organise and process items received by the charity
- supporting recycling efforts to align with the charity’s sustainability goals
- picking up donations from customers when required, ensuring that donations are safely transported to the facility.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- practical, with a can-do mindset and who enjoys hands-on tasks
- reliable, with a strong sense of responsibility
- comfortable working outdoors and in different weather conditions
- physically fit and able to handle moderate lifting and physical activity
- safety-conscious, especially when assisting with tools, ladders or maintenance equipment
- organised and attentive to detail, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard
- friendly and approachable, maintaining a positive attitude when interacting with staff, visitors and other volunteers.
