Are you right for Duke?

Duke is a stunning eight-year-old Collie cross German Shepherd looking for a loving home. He could share his home with teenage children. He is looking to be the only dog in the home and a home without cats or small furries. We have no history of Duke around livestock. Duke is sound sensitive and is looking for a home set-back away from loud noises. He is worried of loud unpredictable noises such as fireworks, gunshots, and thunder. Adopters will need to be understanding of this. He will need access to rural walks away from roads as he is worried by-passing traffic. Duke has history of being housetrained, he may need reminding using positive reward training. He is happy to jump into the car and once settled into his new home he would be okay being left for a few hours at a time.

Is Duke right for you?

Duke is up for a game of fetch with you. He enjoys playing with toys and will bring it right back to you ready to play again. He enjoys treats and he knows a ‘sit’ and ‘paw’ and responds to his name. Duke is instantly friendly with new people and when he knows you, he enjoys a fuss, and he is affectionate. Once Duke has a bond with someone, he does not mind having his hair brushed. Duke may be wary of going into new indoor areas initially, however he gains confidence with encouragement, praise, and once he knows it’s all fun and okay. Duke is not used to socialising with other dogs, however, he is happy to walk around other dogs, or alongside dogs who are happy to ignore him and do their own thing.
